abbys shabby shack the white wabbit 50THE SHACK

Abby's Shabby Shack is our contribution to the "Tiny House" movement, so please be prepared for a gas califont shower, composting toilet and sleeping platform amongst the trees! Be very aware that the "Shack" is very "close to nature" so when we say "Shabby" we really mean it........

A TALE OF SUSTAINABILITY

Abby's Shabby Shack is a "Tiny-House" in Monro Street - we built The Shabby Shack as an exercise in sustainable and eco-friendly living. We started in February, 2015 and welcomed our first guests in December, 2015.

Incorporating all the best features from the Tiny House Movement and George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, Abby's Shabby Shack is hand-built from mainly recycled materials. Starting with the converted Glider Trailer as a base, and less than 10 sq mtrs in floor area, the design evolved as we progressed. Your can watch a short timelapse video of the construction below.

SOME EXCITING FEATURES

  • abbys shabby shack the white wabbit 29double bed sleeping platform with a roof that opens to the trees and sky
  • recycled corrugated-iron roof and rear wall cladding
  • recycled leadlight and stained glass windows, all except one of which open
  • window-seat/lounger beneath the large, colonial bar garden window
  • large french doors opening on to our garden
  • self-contained bathroom including on-demand califont shower and eco-toilet.

Note: although Abby's Shabby Shack only sleeps two adults, we can accommodate families by including The White Wabbit tiny caravan (if available) at an additional charge.

THE SPACE

Guests have full access to our "Secret Garden"; a tree-lined retreat within walking distance of Blenheim town centre. Relax amongst the established trees (with native birds) and soak up the marvellous Marlborough "Provencal" air.
